Cancer researchers to form international alliance

Will alliance find new cures for cancer?

Cancer Research UK (CRUK) and the American Association for Cancer Research (AACR) are teaming up to accelerate the fight against cancer.

The initiative aims to provide a platform for building links between laboratories and clinics in the US and UK. There will be opportunities for researchers to collaborate through international meetings and workshops.

The number of people diagnosed with cancer globally is expected to rise from 15.2m annually in 2015 to 24m in 2035, according to CRUK.

Executive director of research and innovation at CRUK, Dr Iain Foulkes, said cancer is a global challenge and the partnership has the potential to open up opportunities and drive innovation.
