How can nurses help tackle the challenges facing the NHS?
Chief nurse Professor Jane Cummings has warned the annual Chief Nurse’s Summit conference that the NHS faces difficult challenges with an aging population, Brexit and tight financial resources.
Speaking at the Birmingham conference, Professor Cummings called on nurses to take the lead in changing the NHS to match population needs and to help support colleagues from EU countries in an uncertain time.
Some 4% of NHS nurses and midwives in the NHS are from EU.
She added that studies show some 93% of the population trust nurses — more than any other profession.
