Described by former Health and Social Care Secretary Jeremy Hunt as one of the ‘big moments in NHS history’, the long-term plan, previously known as the 10-Year Plan, represents a major new policy drive for the NHS in England.
Although the full content of the plan has yet to be revealed; it has been confirmed that it will involve the full integration of health and social care services. This will promote a more holistic, joined up approach, and an increased focus on improving efficiency and reducing costs across whole patient care pathways.
