How will collaboration help improve prevention, treatment and patient care?
The National Cancer Research Institute (NCRI) has launched its new five year strategy that aims to strengthen collaboration between funders, researchers and healthcare professionals.
Goals laid out in the strategy include:
- to accelerate the translation of cancer research into clinical practice
- to improve the quality of research
- to ensure a co-ordinated portfolio of cancer research in the UK
Figures from Cancer Research UK show survival rates have doubled over the past 40 years, largely due to outcomes from research.
NCRI chair Baroness Delyth Morgan said collaboration will ensure the cancer research community overcomes the challenges facing them in uncertain political and economic times.
The NCRI brings together 19 of the country’s biggest charity and government funders of cancer research.
