Welsh long-term strategy to ‘transform’ health of the nation

What is in the new Welsh public health strategy?

Public Health Wales (PHW) officials have released a detailed new long term strategy Working to achieve a healthier future for Wales sets out priorities and plans it says will transform the health of the nation by 2030.

By 2030, PHW expects Wales will have:

  • a population with a deeper understanding of health and able to influence outcomes for their communities
  • public services based on intelligence, analysis and international evidence, and able to deliver good quality health impact assessments

There is to be a new public health research and development agenda, improved skills and a new health intelligence system.
