Our Advisory Board

The Wilmington Healthcare Advisory Board is in place to review all projects, internal or external, that request any licensed data within the Data Sharing Agreement (DSA) signed between Wilmington Healthcare and NHS Digital (the trading name of the Health and Social Care Information Centre (HSCIC)). The Advisory Board must be consulted to review the purpose to assess whether they have the potential of benefitting the health and social care sector and that all data processing will be in accordance with the DSA and the Licensed Data Protocol. Our Advisory board consists of non-commercial members of the business as well as lay members, who act as independent advisors on the use of NHS data covered under the DSA.

The advisory board’s main activities are to:

  • Review purpose statements within project proposals to assess compliance to the purpose statement within the DSA with NHS Digital
  • Review purpose statements within project proposals to assess compliance in line with the current DPIA for NHS Digital data usage
  • Assess whether each purpose statement details specific and measurable benefits to the health and social care sector
  • Assess the potential of the benefits to the health and social care sector
  • Feedback to account director team/proposal writers any comments regarding the purpose statement
  • Approve or reject projects requesting licensed data based on their relevance and adherence to the purpose statement within the DSA with NHS Digital
  • Request case studies from customers requesting repeat access to projects/solutions that contain licensed data
